A substantial pair of oak armchairs with broad upholstered seats and shaped, high backs, their warm mustard covering set against the darker exposed timber frames. Strong horizontal arm rails, square-section legs and the stepped outline of the backrests give the pair an architectural character associated with Austrian Jugendstil and the emerging geometric language of the Vienna Secession. Generous in scale and quietly sculptural, they offer an elegant bridge between turn-of-the-century craftsmanship and modernist restraint.
