A distinctive armchair produced by Litton Furniture of Sturminster Newton after Charles Rennie Mackintosh’s 1900 design for Miss Cranston’s Argyle Street Tea Rooms. Crafted in oak with a curved backrest and panelled sides, the chair has a wide seat upholstered in Loro Piana fabric and upright posts that rise above the arms as finials. A maker’s plaque reading “Litton Furniture, Sturminster, Newton Dorset” is fitted on the chair base.
Very good overall state; wear consistent with age and use, new upholstered seat pad in Loro Piana fabric.
