A copper, brass and wrought‑iron table lamp designed by William Arthur Smith Benson (1854–1924), numbered model 390. A late 19th century lamp that bears a white paper shade; acquired from Paul Reeves, London, in 2008. The lamp’s design combines a copper reservoir, slender brass column and graceful wrought‑iron scrolls, epitomising Benson’s Arts & Crafts aesthetic. Literature: Ian Hamerton’s W.A.S. Benson: Arts & Crafts Luminary and Pioneer of Modern Design illustrates the model (1899–1900 catalogue, pl. 4, p. 248).

Very good overall state; aged patina to metal parts; shade shows light wear and marks.
